QUITE

11/11/2010 11:00 AM - 21/11/2010 8:00 PM
Venue: The Annexe Gallery
Address: Central Market Annexe, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 50470

From 11 to 21 November, The Annexe Gallery presents Quite, a group exhibition featuring SIngaporean and Malaysian artists. Quite was first present at Post-Museum, Singapore in January 2010, with six artists exhibiting a wide-range of works. This installment of Quite will see more artists joining the fray. Amongst them is Azharr Rudin, a popular filmmaker who makes his first foray into the art work, with an installation called Baca…(sebelum minum) / Drink at your own risk.

The works at Quite will range from installation, audio and interactive works, drawing, screen prints and mixed media with unconventional materials such as skin and hair. Says Angela Chong, curator of the exhibition (who is also presenting her work), “The actual usage of [Quite] is to signify politeness when presenting a harsh comment to the other.” Through the ambiguity and seemingly paradoxical definition, Quite seeks stronger opinions and reactions from its audience, which would in turn spur the artists to exceed their own expectations.

Artists who are a part of this show: Ezzam Rahman (Singapore), Angela Chong (Singapore), Aswad Ameir (Malaysia), Azharr Rudin (Malaysia), Tan Hui Koon (Malaysia), Nur Ain (Singapore), Stellah Lim (Singapore) and Ghazi Alqudcy (Singapore).
