Eighteen amateur photography students, together with their teacher, will be hosting a photography exhibition to share their collection of photographs. The exhibition will be held at The Annexe Gallery, Central Market, Kuala Lumpur on the 30th August to the 5th September 2010. The sole purpose of this exhibition is pure and simple: to share their passion for life through the lenses of their camera. These 18 students consist of working class adults of a wide range of age group, and background, all bound together for the love of photography.

What started as a beginner’s class for Photography 101, quickly became the glue that kept 18 of these students together. Now, no longer beginners, they get together very regularly to share their latest photographs together with their new-found skills and techniques to achieving those shots.

Their teacher, Adam Tan, 52, teaches multiple classes of different levels. He is a reputable and avid photographer who believes that everything in this world is beautiful. “A broken window, a dying tree, or an abandoned building – they are all beautiful if you know how to appreciate them. I aim to capture their beauty through my photographs”, Adam said.

While many prefer to keep their hidden talent to themselves, this group of amateur senior students love to share. “The world is too beautiful to keep to ourselves”, quotes the Exhibition Committee President, Skelvan Teo, 33. “Each year, we travel to different parts of the world to document new places and faces that we have visited. I call them our visual diary and we have so much to share”, he adds.

These seniors have always been sharing their work with friends, and friends of friends through their online network – Multiply and Facebook. When more and more people became interested in viewing their work, the group got together and decided to host an exhibition for the public to view. All of them will be exhibiting a selection of their best work together with a special featured appearance of some work by their very own teacher, Adam Tan.

The public is welcome to this exhibition at Central Market, Kuala Lumpur from 30th August to the 5th September, 11:00am to 8:00pm.

For more information regarding this exhibition, please contact Skelvan @ + 012-737 3939 or email skelvan@yahoo.com.

You can also join their Facebook Group http://www.facebook.com/thesharing to view their work online.
