In conjunction with Astro MySTORY’s campaign**, MAP is inviting artists and the public to participate in a half-day medley of events to share their everyday stories, struggles and aspirations that define their identity as Malaysians.

3.30pm – 4.10pm
SALIKA
While Salika is relatively new to the scene in West Malaysia, they are quite a household name in their home ground, Sarawak. Salika is a five-person band led by Abang Amirul Mukminin (lead vocalist), Mohd Hafizal Khairi Karem (percussions), Muhd Mustaqeem Bujang (guitar), Abang Adlizal (flute/clarinet), Aziman Fikrullh (violin).

DANCE by LAPAR LAB
LAPAR Lab is a non-profit organization providing a platform to publish works of performing arts. LAPAR Lab is conceptualized by Low Shee Hoe, who graduated from Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, and co-founded by Low Shee Hoe, Leng Poh Gee and Louise Yow Sing Hwa since April 2006.

LAPAR LAB will choreograph a dance with a theme of the old Chinese who immigrated from China to Malaysia, with a very authentic Chinese Hakka song.

DARINAI DANCE
Darinai Dance troupe, led by Zamzuriah Zahari, showcases stunningly upbeat and graceful dance forms from traditional to comtemporary moves.

5.00pm – 6.30pm
FRINJAN
The Frinjan Group is an arts collective that is one part commercial, one part culture, one part social change. Their first event was Pekan Frinjan at Dataran Shah Alam. Frinjan will be featuring four acts: Keladak (band), Beeha (solo), Fazleena and Paradoks (spoken word).

MONOLOQUE
MonoloQue was formed in 2004. The man himself, better known as LoQue, was the founder of the well-known Malaysian grunge/alternative/independent band Butterfingers.

POETRY CAFÉ KL
Out of the virtual world and into the physical one, Poetry Cafe KL is a chill out space for poets and poetry lovers to commune and chew the cud together. Featuring spoken words and poetry from practitioners working and living across many global borders.

7.45pm – 8.30pm
THE SPACE GAMBUS EXPERIMENT
A 30-minute performance of versatile and enigmatic sounds by The Space Gambus Experiment. This 10-person band is a confluence of the traditional — the Malay Gambus (Oud), guzheng, rebab — and modern electro-acoustic sounds.

“The Space Gambus Experiment masterfully straddles the gap between the traditional and the contemporary in modern Malaysian music.” – Yusuf Martin

Concurrently at the White Box, MAP, fifteen emerging Malaysian designers will showcase their works in SPARKS – The Journey Showcase. Experience fine arts, photography, digital art, performance art, installation and more in an inspiring narrative about the moments that cultivate the soul of an individual. SPARKS will be collaborating with DesignCircus for the showcase and events at White Box @ MAP.

Lee Swee Keong is a contemporary theatre & artistic director of Nyoba Kan, that helped popularise the visually captivating and meaningful dance style of Butoh in Malaysia.

JOURNEY SHARING
Creative professionals from different fields come together to discuss the defining moments in their lives that led them to where they are today.

YOUTH MAGAZINES SHAPING MALAYSIAN YOUTH with ADRIAN YAP, KLUE
Adrian Yap is founder of the reputed urban lifestyle publication KLue. Adrian Yap started a magazine from scratch called Klue in August 2001, based on a previously running website. Today, Klue is one of the leading publications for the creative arts & design scene. Facilitators – Yap Sau Bin, Crystal Giam
