While the debate rages on about whether ARTERI should have agreed to blog about cake sculpture, we thought it’s also important to highlight the screening of ‘Mencari Kartika’ tonight at the Annexe Gallery. First time filmmaker Norhayati Kaprawi explores the sentiments of Malaysian Muslims on the caning of Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno for consuming alcohol. The documentary will discuss Muslims’ perception of justice in the context of Malaysia followed by a panel discussion with Professor Shad Saleem Faruqi (Law Faculty, UiTM), Saadiah Din (Shariah lawyer) and Northayati Kaprawi (director of ‘Mencari Kartika’). – SS
