FTW! 3rd Pyongyang International Arts Festival

Posted by on Friday, 11 June, 2010 at 10:18 AM. Filed under: Gallery

The 3rd Pyongyang International Arts Festival in Kuala Lumpur 2010 which took place last Saturday was really all about love, peace, harmony and sometimes revenge, according to the organisers. It encapsulates the WTF energy that is infecting our fair city in this day and age. Someone likens it to early Dada-ist performance and revue, but the festival organisers doubt the North Korean government would want to associate themselves with such trivialities and provocation of modern art. Here is a gallery of highlights where the KL artworld descends into one long night of mayhem and meaninglessness.

Listen to BFM interview with the representatives from the festival:

Junkit’s interactive ikebana/disco performance.

Everybody joining Junkit for a wild time.

The Abang Guards of Prevention plays to a roaring crowd and a blonde boy from god knows where who stayed on ChatRoulette just to watch them play and gave two thumbs up!

Near the end of the night, The Best Artshow in the Univers closes the event with a bang in their participatory fireworks performance.

The festival is a resounding success! Shieko and Munkao’s tourist trap. Now everyone can feel like a north korean. Long live the revolution!
