The 2nd Annual KL Photo Awards 2010, which closed in April this year, received close to 1,700 entries from 38 countries, and is a truly global event.

Seeking the best interpretations of the contemporary portrait premise in two categories: individual and story portraits, the kl photoawards attempts to bring together photographic practitioners within studio, photojournalism, documentary and conceptual genres to discover a common theme that is “portraying people with emphasis on their identity as individuals in relation to their surroundings, status and humanity.”

On the evening of the 20th May, the Prize Winners for both Individual and Story categories will be announced and awards presented to the finalists in the presence of gathered visitors, photographers, sponsors, partners and the organisers.

Cash prizes will be given to the top three winners in two categories: the “Portrait Individual (Open) Category” and “Portrait Story (Open) Category”. The cash prizes include: First Prize USD$2,500; Second Prize USD$1,250; and Third Prize USD$700.

Prize Winners will also be presented with the A/D (Analogue/Digital) Man, a specially commissioned trophy by UK sculptor Matthew Richards.

The People’s Choice finalists obtaining the highest popular public vote will also be announced and be presented the prize of a Billingham Hadley Digital camera bag.
