Wedding portrait of Ferdinand and Isabella, c. 1469

nabi isa adalah
kisah cinta dua dunia
mengapa kita berjumpa
namun akhirnya terpisah
siang jadi hilang
ditelan kegelapan malam
alam yang terpisah
melenyapkan semua kisah
dia nabi isa
lambang cinta yang lara
terpisah kerana adat yang berbeza
cinta gugur bersama
daun daun kekeringan
haluan hidupku terpisah dengan
nabi isa
tapi aku terpaksa
demi cintaku
nabi isa
moga dibukakan
pintu hati mu untuk ku
akan terbentang jalan
andainya kau setia
oh nabi isa

1. The poem sebenarnya adalah spoof dari lagu band rock Search, ‘Isabella’. Lagu ini sangat-sangat popular in the late 90′ dan hit in Indonesia.

The Catholic Queen” whom she married to Ferdinand of Aragon.

3. I really like the context of the poem within our current situation [i.e. the controversy over the right to use ‘Allah’ by non-muslims]. Its like muslims sharing tuhan and prophet. Even a friend of mine, he’s Christian, a bit angry, asked me why I was mocking the Lord Jesus (God/Tuhan) dalam poem ini. I explained, For you He is your God, but for Muslims, Nabi Isa is one of the muslim prophets, and I have the right to worship Him too. Both of us agreed and we sing a long to this song together! Peace.
