ARTERI: So tell us a little about yourself. Also, can you attach your face to the body of your favorite superhero?
PATRICIA LAJUMIN: I was born in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in 1986 of Kadazandusun parentage, attended Chinese schools up till high school, and now I’m finishing my degree in English and Communications in UCSI University. Random trivia: I hate cheesecakes and horror movies. I love bicycles. I’m also learning French at the moment.
How did you hear about ARTERI?

We find it hilarious that people want to intern with ARTERI. One question burns burns burns in the dark night of our minds: Why? Why us? Why now?
Why? I need to do a four-month internship to graduate.
Why ARTERI? Well, why not ARTERI? I like art and design. Also I like this idea of being the “heart” of the arts community in Malaysia where everyone (artists, curators, critics and art lovers) feels at home. Kind of like that popular cliché, “ARTERI is where the heART is”.
Why now? Carpe diem, haha!
Take a picture of your desk as it looks like right now.
What do you think of art and artists?
Art is …
Artists are …
and
But seriously,
Art is what makes you laugh, what makes you cry, what provokes you to scream and shout, what renders you stuttering till you shut your mouth.
It’s what leaves you both longing and loathing, leaping with joy or limping in despair.
Art is what is what is art. Art is art is art is art.
If 1Malaysia was a perfume what would it smell like…
Like uncollected trash over the weekend. I wouldn’t buy it.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
When I grow up, I wanna be rich, wanna see the world, wanna have groupies…(ei?)
No… when I grow up, I want to have my own spaceship and, together with my gang of former government mercenaries, do space-exploring (read pillaging) in other inhabited planets a la Serenity.
Failing that, I’d still wanna be rich. Oh, and happy. =D

Patricia Lajumin was born in Kota Kinabalu and is currently finishing her BA in English and Communication in KL. She can’t wait to return home and hopes to live off her parents next year while taking up scuba-diving, before she leaves home again to pursue her MA. When she’s not busy interning for ARTERI and learning French, she finds comfort in coffee, books and music – all at the same time.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Welcome Patricia! So happy to have you on board!
