Pelita Hati invites you to ILHAM V-a sculpture exhibition
Pelita Hati is very much into sculpture and this year is our fifth year organizing ILHAM as our focus on sculpture development in Malaysia. Since the establishment of Pelita Hati in 1995, the art of sculpture is our motivation to continue in the arts industry. Pelita Hati has always been at the forefront in promoting sculptures and we hope we are able to do so for a lot more years to come.
We started off in 2007 by naming our sculpture exhibition as ILHAM. ILHAM meaning ‘ideas’ or ‘inspiration’ is a very appropriate title to be given to our annual sculpture exhibition because of its broad meaning and is consistent with one of our objective that is to introduce and expand the art of sculpture in Malaysia. ILHAM does not limit the type of media used nor does it limit the number of participants/sculptors, whether they are new or have been in this field for a long time. The first ILHAM participation was by six sculptors/artists and they were Azman Ismail, Mohd Faizal Ramli, Mohd Roslan Ahmad, Romli Mahmud, Siti Zainon (Dr.) & Nizam Abdullah. Then in 2008 for ILHAM II (2) we have participation by eight sculptors/artists namely Azman Ismail, Azhari Khalip, Romli Mahmud, Mohamad Faizal Ramli, Tan Bee Him, Rosli Zakaria, Mohd Roslan Ahmad & Zainuddin Abindinhazir.
As for ILHAM III (3) they were so many submissions and requests through e-mail and phone calls to participate that we had to limit it due to our gallery’s space constraint. We accepted 22 participants for ILHAM III, 2009. As for 2010, ILHAM IV (4) we saw quite a number of new participants other than those that have already participated in our ILHAM III the previous year. New participation in the like of Annasuwandi, Wan Zaida,Rahman Aimin, Norazlan Ahmad and a few others.
For this year-2011-ILHAM V, the participants are Norazlan Ahmad, Chin Wan Kee, Tan Bee Him, Khoo Gaik Sim, Mohd Aliff Ahmad, Ahmad Sukri, Mohd Haniff, Muhammad Idrus, Ahmad Syafiq Sirat, Rosli Zakaria, Shaliza Juana, Zainuddin Abindinhazir, Peter Lagan Balang, Salmah Ali, Anassuwandi Ahmad, Mior Nafis, Azman Ismail, Wan Zaida Wan Samidin & Mohd Roslan Ahmad.
ILHAM provides an opportunity for local sculptors, as a platform for them to showcase their works. As an annual event, we sincerely hope what we do here and today can generate the growth and the continuity of sculptures in Malaysia.
