Tutorial: D.I.Y Make-Up in Photography

Having an artist-block? Feeling uninspired? Here’s a tutorial from graphic artist Pek Thong on how to make your own freaky make-up!

Title: Disillusions | 2007

Cara-cara:

1. Mula-mula cat muka manusia ini dengan watercolour putih. Then tunggu kering sekejap, selepas itu ambil berus lukisan buatlah corak-corak sikit. (*nak lagi rare pakai tanah lumpur sapu dekat muka, tengok efek dia bila dah kering. Fuh!)

2. Untuk dapat efek ini, ini hanya cokelat yang dikunyah bercampur air liur. Nak kunyah watercolor pun boleh tapi sakit perut kau punya pasal le. Haha.

3. Nak cantik sikit ambil berus gigi yang lama-lama, letak watercolour merah, brown ke, then sembur-sembur macam itu. Dulu sekolah rendah ada belajar kan? Atau percik guna jari pun boleh.

4. Ok ramai orang tanya apa benda ini. Ini ialah surat khabar lama yang dihancur dengan air dan digaul dengan pelaka warna merah dan brown. Bukanlah daging burger mahupun najis kuda. Ini simple aje kan.

*Make-up ini paling lama tapi shooting aku buat setengah jam je. Haha.

Pek Thong is a freelance artist, designer, photographer, an ardent painter and occasional traveller. A self-taught artist, he began his humble career as a graphic designer alongside a professional photographer and graphic designer in Petaling Jaya. He left his desk of eight years to pursue freelance design fulltime in 2010. Most people know him by his dark, experimental and surreal photo manipulation. Combining animals, comics and fantasies, he created his own unique style of paintings and designs unconventionally different from the rest.

He enjoys reading, sketching and doodling on walls.
