Tutorial: How to make ‘Hantu’ font

Having an artist-block? Feeling uninspired? Here’s a tutorial from graphic artist Pek Thong on how to make your own font!

How to make ‘Hantu’ font
Bahan-bahan nak buat ini simple sahaja:
Kertas lukisan, watercolor hitam, berus lukisan dan straw yang tajam.

STEP 1 : Mula-mula kena pakai berus dulu tulis. Jangan pakai berus jamban.

STEP 2 : Selepas itu, cari straw air kotak yang tajam hujungnya. Masa ink tengah basah, kacau-kacau sikit tepi dia.

STEP 3 : Haa… efek dia nanti jadi macam ini, macam orang ludah kahak diatas jalan tar. Kalau rajin, lagi halus lagi cantik.

STEP 4 : Hah dah siap! Tunggu dia kering. Jangan jemur pulak nanti kertas melengkung. Biar je dia berdikari kering sendiri.

STEP 5 : Kalau dah kering, boleh le masuk dalam scanner, scan! Jangan basuh kain pula dalam scanner.
Kemudian masuk Adobe Photoshop (Ps) dan adjust level dia kasi hitam lagi ink tu. Pandai-pandai lah agak hitam macam mana ye.

Image > Adjustment > Levels

STEP 6 : Selepas itu, file tadi place dalam Adobe Illustrator (Ai). Select gambar tadi dan pergi
Object > Live Trace > Make and Expand

Dia akan auto-trace. Tunggu je macam tunggu bas.

STEP 7 : Haa… dia akan jadi begini. Line biru itu akan keliling setiap huruf. Maknanya apa kau buat itu betul.

STEP 8 : Dari sini, boleh tukar apa saja color, masuk effect & etc.. senang kan?

So selama ini macam inilah aku buat kerja. Malas nak download font yang beribu-ribu. Buat sendiri lagi puas hati. Kepada yang tak tahu, Daarchlea ni band metal Malaysia. Aku tengah dalam proses bikin merchandise diaorang. Tunggu keluarannya!
